The Swindon and District Caledonian Society was formed in 1929. It is non-sectarian and non-political, and its objectives are to develop friendly sociability among members, other Scots, relatives and friends in the area, and to promote and encourage the preservation and enjoyment of the literature, music, dancing, folklore and traditions of Scotland.
Current annual rates of membership are £9.00 for one adult (18+), or £12.00 per couple. There is no charge for children.

The Society organises functions, outings and convivial evenings on a regular basis throughout the year. Guests as well as members are very welcome at all events, and details are available from any member of the committee.

25 Jan : Burns Night Supper/Dance, Marriott Hotel, Swindon
15 Feb : Welsh/Scots joint evening, Lawn Community Centre, Swindon
15 Mar : Supper and country dancing at Ogbourne Downs Golf Clubhouse
18 Apr : AGM (inc wine and cheese), Lawn Community Cen
19 Apr : Scottish Tattoo at Salisbury Town Hall
5 May : Golf and High Tea, Ogbourne Downs Golf Club

Scottish Country Dancing classes are held regularly in the district, and the Society supports and maintains contact with these classes. Further details are given below. Dancers do not have to be members of the Society.

Any Member of the Committee will be pleased to provide further information on the Society and its activities, to introduce prospective new members to the existing membership, or in any other way they can, to assist in promoting friendship through the common heritage of Scotland.
